Should I Buy a Triumph Bonneville Street Twin?

Mar. 3 2021 Motorcycles By Erico Motorsports

The latest generation of Triumph’s best-selling modern classic arriving this March delivers all of the thrilling performance, confidence-inspiring handling and contemporary style we’ve grown to love. The 2021 debut features cast aluminum wheels with machined-spoke detailing, a more comfortable bench seat, redesigned side panel and decals, and brushed aluminum. It’s the highest selling model in the classic family, and also the most affordable, and we can’t wait to take it for a ride!

Adrenaline Junkie to Safety Two-Shoes Performance

The 2021 Street Twin features a powerful 900 cc liquid-cooled, 8-valve 270-degree crank parallel twin Bonneville engine. The 270-degree crank bolsters the engine, fine-tuning the sound it emits. It produces a modest 65 horsepower, an 18% growth from the previous model at 7,500 rpms and 59 lb-ft of peak torque at 3,800 rpms. Plenty of power and with lower emissions.

Power from this high torque engine is kept under control using Ride-by-Wire technology, which manages cruise and traction control, and variable power modes, ABS, a torque-assist clutch, and two riding modes, Road and Rain. If you’re ever caught in dangerous weather, such as snow or icy roads, you can count on the switchable traction control to assist you in safely navigating. If a wheel starts to skid, traction control decreases engine capability, allowing the wheel to recover its strong grip.

Dependable braking power comes from 4-piston Brembo front brakes, and the anti-lock braking system has a controller that supervises wheel speeds. The torque-assist clutch makes driving long journeys easier. The Street Twin offers a steady drive, no matter the roads you decide to pursue. The bike remains firm on winding mountain roads and unshaken on the highway; versatility is one of its most attractive features, making it appealing to a wide range of riders.

Iconic Look with a Modern Feel

Triumph’s Street Twin might look like a vintage motorcycle but it’s packed with modern gadgets, including Brembo brakes, cartridge forks, cast wheels, premium instrumentation, a rear LED light with a distinctive light pattern, an immobilizer, and a USB charging port under the seat. Combine these modern features with Triumph’s iconic detailing and you’ve got the ultimate cruising machine.

Compared to previous models, the 2021 Street Twin has a more finished, polished look. A new side panel is adorned with a contemporary logo, while the fuel tank sports fresh decals. The throttle body and headlight brackets have a lovely brushed aluminum finish, and riders can choose from Korosi Red, Jet Black, or Matte Ironstone all sleek and classy colors. There are also over 140 accessories available, so you can design a motorcycle straight out of your wildest dreams.

Riders now sit in an elevated position on a ribbed bench seat that features nearly half an inch of additional foam padding. The bike also has a fairly low, 30” seat height, making it accessible for shorter riders. New 18 and 17-inch 10-spoke cast-aluminum wheels are fitted with heavy-duty Pirelli Phantom Sportcomp tires that can handle any street obstacles that come their way.

The Street Twin exemplifies grandeur and beauty with a revised design and smart upgrades. Starting at $9,400 the Street Twin is a perfect example of style and comfort both experienced riders and newcomers will appreciate. Want to learn more or be notified when these arrive?
